IL Rte 120: Knight Ave to IL Rte 131 (Green Bay Rd)

Plans are being prepared to improve safety, address roadway capacity, and system continuity. The scope of work for the IL 120 Improvement Project includes widening the roadway to provide a center left turn lane and continuous sidewalks along both sides of the road.

Illinois Route 120 is a state route under the jurisdiction of the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT). As part of the Lake County Division of Transportation's (LCDOT) efforts to improve traffic conditions in Lake County, this section of Illinois Route 120 was identified as in need of improvement. Working with the City of Park City, the City of Waukegan and IDOT, a Phase I Preliminary Engineering and Environmental Study was performed to identify the best alternative to improve safety, address roadway capacity, and provide system continuity. Meetings were held with the businesses along the corridor to introduce the project, show the proposed improvement and answer questions. LCDOT is funding and the lead agency for Phase I, Phase II and Phase III.
