1. Alternative Prosecution Program

    Under the direction of Lake County State’s Attorney Mike Nerheim, the State’s Attorney’s Office has designed an Alternative Prosecution Program.

  2. Citizens Advisory Board

    Lake County State’s Attorney Michael G. Nerheim comprised a Citizen’s Advisory Panel that serves as a liaison between the community and the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office.

  3. Case Review Panel

    A Case Review Panel was also comprised by Lake County State’s Attorney Michael G. Nerheim. The Case Review Panel is comprised of volunteer attorneys that are not employed with the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office.

  4. Child Support

    The Child Support Enforcement Division started in 1974 to provide enforcement services for custodial parents. The office has 20,000 active cases and works in conjunction with the Illinois Department of Health and Family Services (IDHFS), located at 227 Genesee Street, Waukegan, Illinois.

  5. Children’s Advocacy Center

    The Lake County Children’s Advocacy Center is committed to providing a safe environment for child victims of abuse. The goal of The Center is to investigate and help successfully prosecute offenders of child abuse without causing further trauma to the child victim.

  7. Homicide Support Group

    The Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office is proud to announce that it has launched a Homicide Self Support Group. The self-help group provides members with the opportunity to share the impact the homicide had on their lives and to hear how other people facing loss and grief are coping.

  8. Internship Opportunities

    The Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office provides unpaid internship and externship opportunities to qualified students during the summer as well as during the fall and spring semesters.

  9. Justice for Youth

    The Lake County State's Attorney's Office is committed to battling issues that lead to the emotional and physical distress of teens in the area.

  10. Lake County Opioid Initiative

    The Lake County Opioid Initiative aids in the efforts to reduce recidivism through strategic efforts relating to issues confronting users and ex-offenders.

  11. Reducing Recidivism

    The Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office creates and participates in efforts to reduce recidivism. The office contributes to crime and drug prevention, education and awareness initiatives.

  12. Text-A-Tip

    Text-A-Tip is a 24/7 anonymous text-communication system for youth needing immediate mental health assistance for themselves or a friend.

  13. Volunteer Program

    The Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office has launched a Volunteer Program. The program is designed for individuals who are interested in volunteering their time and talents and who possess a commitment to helping their community.
