When citizens participate in government, it enhances transparency, openness, as well as effectiveness because government officials benefit from citizens' input, perspective, and expertise. The Lake County Board is seeking volunteers to appoint to various boards, agencies, commissions.
Adopt-a-Highway is a volunteer program offered by the Lake County Division of Transportation. Residents can help contribute to cleaner environment by volunteering to pick up litter along Lake County's highway system. Learn more about Adopt A Highway.
Lake County Health Department Medical Reserve Corps
The goal of the Lake County Medical Reserve Corps is to increase the health care surge capacity of the county to support the existing health care system in the event of a major emergency, Flu Pandemic and to support local public health needs.
Medical Reserve Corps volunteers can and will serve a vital role by assisting with ongoing public health needs. More information about the Medical Reserve Corps is available on the Health Department's website.
19th Judicial Circuit Court
Kids Korner - Volunteers are needed to serve as caregivers in Kids’ Korner. Hours are flexible. All volunteers undergo an extensive training program before they are assigned to work a shift as a caregiver. If you are interested in volunteering, please call Kids’ Korner at 847.377.3825.
Probation Support Volunteers - The VIP (Volunteers in Probation) Program has been an important feature of the 19th Judicial Circuit for more than three decades. Volunteers assist the Adult and Juvenile Probation Departments by meeting one-on-one with low-risk clients to share such skills as child care, building trades, youth group mentoring and library science.
Other volunteer opportunities are available with the 19th Judicial Circuit Court.
Lake County Sheriff's Reserve Deputy Unit
Volunteer for the Lake County Sheriff's Reserve Deputy Unit to assist with traffic and crowd control, searching for missing persons and crime scene searches. Volunteers must have a flexible schedule and be at least 21 years of age. Learn more about Reserve Deputy Unit in this video.

Report severe weather activity; participate in communications events and more as a RACES/ARES volunteer. Membership for the Lake County RACES/ARES Group is open to all licensed amateur radio operators and others who are interested in amateur radio or emergency service.
