The WATER RESOURCES disc contains the following data:
HYDRO2002: The 2002 Surface Hydrology represents the water features of Lake County, Illinois. The hydrology polygons represent the following water feature areas: lakes, ponds, detention/retention basins, river/streams/creeks greater than five feet wide, and islands. The hydrology lines represent the following linear water features: dams, culverts, local drainage; and the outer boundary of lakes, ponds, detention/retention basins, river/streams/creeks greater than five feet wide, and islands.
LCWI2002: The Lake County Wetland Inventory (LCWI) maps natural and artificial wetlands meeting definitions established by the federal agencies who work with the Lake County Geographic Information System staff to periodically review and update it. These agencies include the United States Environmental Protection Agency, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the U.S.D.A. Natural Resources Conservation Service and the United States Army Corps of Engineers. Disclaimer: the LCWI wetland boundaries are based on off-site determination methods and do not take the place of an on-site wetland determination by a qualified wetland specialist. These wetland boundaries should be used for general reference, planning and initial screening purposes only.
ADID (ADvance IDentification of high quality wetlands): contains the boundaries of the Lake County ADID wetlands as well as digital copies of the Final Report and Site Data Sheets in Adobe PDF and HTML format. ADID is a federal program managed by the United States Army Corps of Engineers and the United States Environmental Protection Agency. ADID wetland sites having exceptional functional value were identified through a formal process documented in two publications issued in 1992. ADID wetlands are regarded as being generally unsuitable for filling activities.
These data should meet National Map Accuracy Standards for a 1:1200 product and are georeferenced to the Illinois State Plane, Eastern Zone, using the NAD83 or the NAD83 HARN horizontal datum. Refer to the .PRJ and/or metadata files for confirmation. The units of measurement used in county mapping are U.S. feet.
The boundary data provided is in ESRI shapefile format using the Illinois State Plane Projection, East Zone, and the NAD83 HARN horizontal datum. This dataset should meet National Map Accuracy Standards for a 1:1200 product. The units of measurement used in county mapping are feet.
NOTE: CAD users, this is a large, county wide dataset optimized for use with GIS software. CAD software such as AutoCAD or MicroStation may NOT be able to open this dataset. Make sure your software and computer can handle this file size effectively before purchasing.
The countywide Water Resources DVD may be purchased for $50. The purchase price is not refundable. A defective disc may be exchanged for a replacement disc for the same product at no charge.
