The 1861 Lake County Map shows the major landowners and selected municipalities as they were then. The Lake County Superintendent of Highways prepared this map in 1948 from maps provided by the Lake County Historical Society. We offer this map for general historical reference purposes only, with no guarantee of accuracy or completeness, on an as-is basis. Note that there are a number of commercially prepared map atlases of Lake County dating from the 19th and early 20th century available in area libraries and other specialized library collections within the State of Illinois.
