Recipients of federal funding for homeless assistance must participate in a Homeless Management Information System (HMIS).  An HMIS is a computerized data collection application that facilitates the collection of information on homeless persons and stores that data in an electronic format.  HMIS can be employed to:

  • better understand the characteristics of homeless persons in Lake County, including their demographic characteristics;
  • patterns of homelessness, and use of services;
  • improve the delivery of housing and services;
  • and document Lake County’s progress in reducing homelessness.
