Periodic Imprisonment

Periodic Imprisonment is an alternative sentencing program allowing county-sentenced offenders the ability to remain gainfully employed while serving a sentence imposed by the courts. The program is designed for non-violent offenders demonstrating an ability to function within society while remaining under supervision of corrections staff. Inmate Residents sentenced to Periodic Imprisonment are taken from the Court to the Jail and processed through Booking. Inmate Residents are segregated based on gender. Residential Field Coordinators provide residents an orientation including written resident rules, PREA (Prison Rape Elimination Act) guidelines and a review of the terms and conditions of their sentence. Illinois State Statute requires Inmate Residents sentenced to Periodic Imprisonment pay a fee to participate in the program. Inmate Residents must further agree to provide the necessary documentation to verify employment and enrollment in educational or treatment programming, as well as comply with random drug and alcohol screening.
