Developer Best Management Practices

Site design decisions by developers ultimately determine whether a development will be more or less environmentally friendly. Developments, particularly commercial developments, are one of the main contributors to non-point source pollution washed into local streams, rivers and lakes via stormwater runoff. Those pollutants include sediment from improperly stabilized construction sites as well as oil and grease from trucks and equipment.

There are several BMPs that can be incorporated into site designs and to be in compliance with the Lake County Watershed Development Ordinance to improve water quality in local water resources and to reduce the potential for flooding:
