St. Mary on the Lake University/Mundelein Seminary
Meeting announcement

Please join us!  Our meeting program will feature the Route 53/120 Corridor Land Use Plan development presented by Jason Navota of the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning.

A light luncheon will be provided so RSVPs are requested. RSVP to Darcy Hertel, dhertel@lakecountyil.gov or call 847.377.7707

Many thanks to Clayton Kalweit, Director of Facilities at St. Mary's/Mundelein Seminary for hosting the meeting. St. Mary of the Lake University/Mundelein Seminary is the major seminary and school of theology for the Archdiocese of Chicago.
See virtual map of the campus.

The campus was completed in 1921 and the same buildings are still being maintained. Joseph McCarthy designed the campus with all the design details being hand drawn. There has been very little change to the campus over the years although former orchards around the lake are no longer maintained and a portion of the property is in a long term lease to Pine Meadows Golf Course. The 105-acre St. Mary's Lake is the centerpiece of the property. It was created sometime between 1915 and 1920 by damming Bull Creek.

About the Bull Creek-Bull's Brook Watershed Council

The BCBB Council is ready to move forward with the mission of improving water quality, protecting and restoring natural resources, reducing flood damage, enhance education and stewardship and guiding new development to benefit the watershed goals.  Application to become an official member of the council requires adoption of a community/organizational resolution, or a letter of commitment to use the plan as a guidance document within the context of community or organizational decision-making as it affects the greater watershed goals. Please contact Kathleen O'Connor, koconnor@libertyvilletownship.us or call 847.816.6800 if you have questions about council membership.

This meeting’s program focused on transportation improvement projects in the watershed. IDOT representatives provided an update the Route 21 project currently being constructed and the study that is underway to plan improvements to the Route 83/137 corridor. Both corridors include stream crossings of Bull Creek/Bull’s Brook. See the map of road projects in the watershed with the IDOT roadway corridors highlighted.

The Watershed Council work plan was reviewed following the guest presentations. A progress summary for the 2012 work plan is attached along with a proposed work plan for 2013.  Please take a few minutes to look at these and share your thoughts on the Council’s focus for 2013.

If you have any questions, please contact Ken Klick, Council Chair, kklick@lcfpd.org  or Patty Werner pwerner@lakecountyil.gov (meeting organizer).
