    IL59 & Grand project public meeting held July 29

    ​The Lake County Division of Transportation (LCDOT) has advanced the Phase I study of the IL 59 and Grand Ave intersection. An informational open house to was held Tuesday July 29 to present opportunities for the public to review and provide comments for two alternatives that have been developed. Exhibits displayed at the meeting and additional information about the project are available at the study website.

    Comments can also be submitted until August 12 through the study website.

  • Closure beginning Monday August 4: IL Route 120 at Canadian National Railroad

    IL Route 120 just west of IL Route 83 will be fully closed at the Canadian National Railroad (CN RR) in the Village of Grayslake, Lake County beginning on Monday, August 4, 2014 at 6:00 AM through Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at 6:00 PM for CN RR to perform repairs to the railroad grade crossing. The posted detour route for eastbound traffic on IL Route 120 will be to proceed southbound on Alleghany Road, to eastbound on Peterson Road, and northbound on IL Route 83 back to IL Route 120. The posted detour route for westbound traffic on IL Route 120 will be to proceed southbound on IL Route 83, westbound on Peterson Road, and northbound on Alleghany Road back to IL Route 120.

  • Construction Begins on I-94 and Grand Ave. Interchange

    I-94 RAMP CLOSURE: The Illinois Tollway begins work this week on the Grand Avenue (IL 132) Interchange project. This two-year project includes rebuilding seven of the eight ramps that make up the interchange in 2014 and 2015. The remaining ramp carrying traffic from Grand Avenue to eastbound I-94 was reconstructed in 2009. It begins the week of July 7 with the closure of eastbound I-94 ramp to westbound Grand Ave. This is the first of four scheduled ramp reconstructions scheduled for this year to improve safety and extend the life of the roadway.

  • Washington Street to reopen week of July 21

    Washington Street from Cedar Lake Road to Hainesville Road will reopen to through traffic during the week of July 21. Work will continue through mid-August.

  • 2014 Road Construction Program Announced

    ​2014 will again be another extremely busy construction season for Lake County. This year's $170 million road program exceeds last year's investment of $126 million, making this Lake County's most significant construction program to date.

    Lake County Division of Transportation (LCDOT) will continue multiple projects already underway and start a number of new reconstruction and widening projects, intersection improvements, resurfacing projects, and several pedestrian/bike path projects this year.

  • ​Lake County 2040 Transportation Plan

    The Lake County Year 2040 Transportation Plan will serve as the blueprint for transportation improvements, including bicycle and transit components, for Lake County for the next two decades. An open house was held on Wednesday December 18 at the Lake County Division of Transportation to offer interested people the opportunity to view exhibits illustrating the proposed plan, ask questions and share feedback with LCDOT staff and consultants.
