  • Buffalo Grove Road Phase I study

    The Lake County Division of Transportation (LCDOT) is performing a Preliminary Engineering and Environmental Study (Phase I Study) for Buffalo Grove Road from Deerfield Parkway to IL Route 22. The study will evaluate long term improvements for Buffalo Grove Road in compliance with criteria for environmental studies. Also considered in this study is the completion of the existing bike path along the east side of Buffalo Grove Road. A public meeting was held on December 9, 2014 to review study materials and submit comments regarding the study. Comments can be submitted using the comment form posted on the website, or through the Contact Us form on the website. Comments submitted by December 23 will be entered into the public record.

  • Proposed improvements to Old McHenry Road discussed at public hearing November 18

    A public hearing to discuss proposed improvements to Old McHenry Road was held November 18, 2014 at Kildeer Countryside Elementary School. The proposed project will consist of improvements along Old McHenry Road within downtown Long Grove.   • UPDATE: Rollins Road traffic pattern shift now scheduled to begin Thursday September 25

    Turning movements will be restricted at the Rollins Rd and IL83 intersection beginning Thursday September 25 at 6am. Eastbound and westbound traffic on Rollins will be moved to the newly-constructed lanes under the temporary bridge at IL83 and the newly-constructed bridge carrying the Canadian National Railroad over Rollins Rd west of the intersection. The schedule calls for the restriction to remain in place through November, weather permitting.

  • Wadsworth Road intersections public meeting

    The Lake County Division of Transportation (LCDOT) has initiated a study for improvements to the intersections of Wadsworth Road at Dilleys Road, U.S. Route 41, and Kilbourne Road to consider capacity, safety, and projected future travel demand. A public information meeting was held Monday September 15 to present the study schedule, planning process and stakeholder involvement opportunities, and to provide an opportunity for the public to share perspectives about transportation issues and concerns regarding the study area. Public comments collected at the meeting or submitted through the Contact Us form on the project website by September 29 will be entered into the public meeting record.

  • Peterson Rd lane closures to begin Monday, September 15

    There will be no left turn access to northbound and southbound Illinois Route 83 from Peterson Road for 3 weeks beginning September 15, 2014 at 6am. The closure is necessary as part of the Peterson Road reconstruction and widening project. The signed detour route for the Peterson Road closure will be Peterson Road (Lake County Route A-33) to Midlothian Road(Lake County Route V-73) to Winchester Road (Lake County Route A-34) to Illinois Route 83.   • Help shape the future of Lake County's housing and community development

    Lake County government needs your input! Help us prioritize the use of federal grant funds for housing and community development activities over the next five years. Take this survey (available in English or Spanish) to assess affordable housing, neighborhood conditions, access to parks, job training programs and other needs of low- and moderate-income individuals and households. Results of the survey will be presented to the Lake County Board in the fall.

  • Closure beginning Monday August 18: IL Route 83 at Canadian National Railroad

    The Illinois Department of Transportation has announced that IL Route 83 will be fully closed at the Canadian National Railroad in the Village of Grayslake, Lake County beginning on Monday, August 18, 2014 at 6:00 AM through Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at 6:00 PM for the repairs at the grade crossing.

    The posted detour route for northbound traffic on IL Route 83 is to proceed westbound on Peterson Road, northbound on Alleghany Road, and eastbound on IL Route 120 back to IL Route 83. The posted detour route for southbound traffic on IL Route 83 is to proceed westbound on IL Route 120, southbound on Alleghany Road, and eastbound on Peterson Road back to IL Route 83.

  • Construction Begins on I-94 and Grand Ave. Interchange

    I-94 RAMP CLOSURE: The Illinois Tollway begins work this week on the Grand Avenue (IL 132) Interchange project. This two-year project includes rebuilding seven of the eight ramps that make up the interchange in 2014 and 2015. The remaining ramp carrying traffic from Grand Avenue to eastbound I-94 was reconstructed in 2009. It begins the week of July 7 with the closure of eastbound I-94 ramp to westbound Grand Ave. This is the first of four scheduled ramp reconstructions scheduled for this year to improve safety and extend the life of the roadway.

  • Washington Street to reopen week of July 21

    Washington Street from Cedar Lake Road to Hainesville Road will reopen to through traffic during the week of July 21. Work will continue through mid-August.

  • 2014 Road Construction Program Announced

    ​2014 will again be another extremely busy construction season for Lake County. This year's $170 million road program exceeds last year's investment of $126 million, making this Lake County's most significant construction program to date.

    Lake County Division of Transportation (LCDOT) will continue multiple projects already underway and start a number of new reconstruction and widening projects, intersection improvements, resurfacing projects, and several pedestrian/bike path projects this year.

  • ​Lake County 2040 Transportation Plan

    The Lake County Year 2040 Transportation Plan will serve as the blueprint for transportation improvements, including bicycle and transit components, for Lake County for the next two decades. An open house was held on Wednesday December 18 at the Lake County Division of Transportation to offer interested people the opportunity to view exhibits illustrating the proposed plan, ask questions and share feedback with LCDOT staff and consultants.
