Paratransit Market Study

About the study: A Paratransit Market Study is underway in Lake County to evaluate transportation options for seniors, people with disabilities, and the general public. There are a variety of services currently available, such as Pace Dial-a-Ride or township programs, to assist these populations in their travels to and from medical appointments, places of employment and other daily activities. Unlike a traditional scheduled bus service that runs on published route and serves fixed bus stops, paratransit is a shared and flexible on-demand service that responds to rider requests for travel within a defined service area. Paratransit services are geared toward individuals with mobility limitations that prevent them from accessing scheduled bus service, and/or live outside of an area served by scheduled bus service. This study will evaluate the range of available paratransit services, identify gaps in service relative to community needs, and recommend improvements.
